Furthermore, two unnamed species accompanied with an alphabetic code were described for the larvae, which were not associated with adults. Tsuda (1942b) recorded Mystacides longicornis (Linnaeus) from Japan, but Uenishi (1993) suggested that it was a misidentification of an undescribed species.

Genus Oecetis McLachlan

Thirteen species belonging to this genus have been recorded from Japan. Kuwayama (1930) reported a European species, Oecetis testcea (Curtis 1984), based on two female specimens collected from Hokkaido. After that, Kumanski (1991) described a subspecies, O. testacea orientalis (now treated as O. kumanskii), based on specimens collected from North Korea. Furthermore, Arefina and Armitage (2005) described other subspecies, O. testacea sakhalinica (junior synonym of O. tsudai), from South Sakhalin. Both O. kumanskii and O. tsudai are distributed in Hokkaido, therefore, Kuwayama's female specimens may belong to either of those species. On the other hand, although Tanida (2016) listed O. testacea testacea in his checklist of Japanese Trichoptera, no reliable record of this nominotypical subspecies are found from East Asia.
Tanida (1997) recorded one undescribed species from Ryukyu Islands. O. dilata Yang and Morse was recorded from Hokkaido without collecting data by Malicky (2005b).
