    In Japan, only genus Chimarra has been recorded in this
    subfamily.
    
    Genus Chimarra Stephens
    
    
    In Japan only one named species was recorded, but an unnamed species
    accompanied with an alphabetic code was described for larva, which
    was not associated with adult. Tanida (2003, 2005) illustrated
    unidentified larval specimens of this genus. Kuhara (2017) pointed
    out that the larva tentalively described by Furuya (1974) as Chimarra
    sp. CB belongs the genus Wormaldia.

    Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu,
    Oki-shoto, Tsushima, Koshikijima-retto, Ryukyu (Yakushima)), Korea.
    Remarks. Kuhara (2017) considered that the larva tentatively
    described as Chimarra sp. CA by Kumode (1952) and Furuya
    (1974) is C. tsudai, but that by Tanida (1985) is a
    different species.
    
    
    Subfamily Philopotaminae Stephens
    
    Three genera, Dolophilodes, Kisaura and Wormaldia
    have been recorded from Japan.
    
    Genus Dolophilodes Ulmer
    
    Nine named species were recorded in Japan (Kuhara 2005a). Several
    illustrations of male genitalia (Yamanouchi 1987, Morita 1996,
    1998b) were also provided for unidentified species of "Dolophilodes",
    but their generic placement should be reexamined because Kisaura
    was elevated from a subgenus of Dolophilodes (s.l.)
    to generic status (Malicky 1993, see also Blahnik 2005). Kuhara
    (2017) described larvae of 8 out of 9 species recorded in Japan, but
    failed to clarify the identities D. sp. DA tentatively
    described based on larval specimens by Kumode (1952) and Furuya
    (1974)  and that of D. sp. DB by Furuya (1974). Kuhara
    (2017), however, associated each larvae illustrated and tentatively
    named as D. sp. DA, DB and DD by Tanida (1985, 2005) to
    named species and transferred Dolophilodes sp. DC by him to
    the genus Wormaldia.

    Eleven species of this genus have been recorded in Japan. Yamanouchi
    (1987) illustrated the male genitalia and wing of an unidentified
    species as "Dolophilodes sp. 2", which was treated as "Dolophilodes
    (Kisaura)" by Ohkawa (1999). Morita (1997) illustrated the
    male genitalia of an unidentified species of this genus. Inazu and
    Nishida (2014) also showed pictures of the male genitalia of two

    Sixteen named species of this genus have been recorded in Japan.
    Figures or pictures were also provided for male genitalia (Morita
    1995, 1999a, Inazu and Nishida 2011) of unidentified species of the
    genus. Larval records of Wormaldia subnigra in Japan by
    Iwata (1927a, 1927b) were considered to be misidentification of
