Remarks. This species belongs to the subgenus Brachycentrus. Wiggins et al. (1985) pointed out that the larval specimens recorded as B. subnubilus by Iwata (1927a) include at least two species, and that the record of B. subnubilus from Japan is doubtful. Nozaki (2005a) mentioned that a specimen collected from Gifu in Iwata’s specimens belongs to this species.

Remarks. Tsuda (1941) used the name Micrasema hanasense (as hanasensis) ahead of the publication by Tsuda (1942). Although Tsuda (1941) assigned this species as a member of an ecological group, he did not provide any description or definition for the taxon. Therefore, the name appeared in Tsuda (1941) is not available (ICZN Art. 13.1.1).
Nozaki et al. (1999) suggested that the male genitalia illustrated by Akagi (1957) belongs to Nippoberaea gracilis (Nozaki and Kagaya 1994). Shimura (2015) recorded this species from Fukue-jima based on identification of the larval stage.
